Only the V12 had a MAP sensor in 1997, in fact it had two. The other Jag engines didn't use one until the 4.2L V8 in 2003. It's used to calculate engine load, the AJ16 uses MAF, TPS and RPM to do that.

Can I ask why you are looking for it??

Cheers,

Thumbs up MAP Sensor Enhancer

Hi XJRGUY and thanks for getting back to me in regards to location of the MAp sensor.

To answer you question two years ago I built a fuel cell and installed it on my wifes 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Before installing the cell she was only getting 17 to 18 mpg on the highway on a good day and maybe 12 around town. After I installed the cell (running at 12amps) and bult a MAP sensor enhancer for the car so I could lean the engine out alowing the Hydrogen/Oxygen from the fuel cell to work correctly. She now gets 26 to 28 mpg highway and 17 to 18 around town. The old 4 litre Jeep engine runs like new but the body it has is long passed it's sell-by-date so to the scrap yard it goes soon. I now thought I would put the fuel cell and enhancer on my 1997 XJR but if not then on my 3.2 litre Chrysler. Concored.

Cheers mate

I recommend you DO NOT lean out a supercharged engine.

I'll take your word for it Ross but have been doing it on diesel engines with turbo's for a few years now with no side effects Never put one on a petrol superchrged engine before so will use the one I have right now on my Chrysler Concorde 3.2 litre.

Thanks again for you input..

By lean, he may be substituting fuel, not depriving. I assume his stoichiometric ratio still has to be withing range.

So, are you saying that the lack of wet gas is going to make the engine run hot and burn the pistons?

Just askin' as a curious one.
