Default Marvel Mystery Oil

I got a lot of clattering on cold start up that went away once warmed up.
I had been running Lucas oil treatment for a while with Kendall GT-1 10-40w thinking the Lucas might help.
The other day I needed to add oil due to oil leaks at filter housing and valve cover (which I'm getting fixed).
But instead of oil I added about a quart and a half of Marvel Mystery Oil.
Ever since then start ups have been quiet and the engine purrs and runs great.
Anyone else had this experience? Almost like a new car.

wonder if it is snake oil... lol.
i see a lot of different additives for oil and for petrol and i always wonder if they actually do much and also how to tell what one actually does.
never seen one that can be added to both the petrol tank and the oil.

i mean it looks just like snake oil to me,
the whole way it is promoted on the website and everything just reeks of snake oil,

but hey, if it works it works.

all that being said, i am always one happy to give things a go.
also with that being said, reading up on what it is made from i wonder what effect just adding 100-200ml of mineral turpentine (white spirits) to the engine oil would have?
and or a couple hundred mls of metholated spirits to the fuel tank?

Marvel Mystery oil has been around for a very long time. It is one of the finest lubricating, and creeping oils. It will creep into places that lost oil long ago due to sludge, and restore lubrication. Thus why your engine quieted down after using Marvel. Things got the lubrication they were lacking.

Been using it for years in most of my cars. Marvel Mystery oil is the best. Results vary depending on the car you put it in. For my XJR6. I only put a little in the fuel once in a while. my other cars will get some in the oil, but the XjR6 doesn't need any in the oil yet because it runs on, and holds Mobil 1 10w40. it is my daily driver unless bad weather and or salt is on the ground and only needs not more than 1/2 a quart every two to three months. I am usually only adding right about the time it needs an oil change anyway. Just thought I would chime in.

I believe it contains wintergreen oil (Methyl Salicylate) and it 'creeps' into places where others cannot as 89 Jacobra noted.

I have an old 1851 Colt revolver that had a seized cylinder. I soaked it for a few days in MM oil and freed it up. (does not smell bad either)

My go to is Rislone brand of oil additive, the ingredients may have changed over the years and the key ingredient. back in the day was toluene

aside from getting the chain tensioner to slide and expand quickly the upgraded tensioner has a large arrow cast on the exposed cap
