The other day when I started my car on my way to school it made a sound it never has before. When I cranked the car it started fine but then it made a loud humming sound that sounded like vibrating. I could hear it over the engine and for about 2 seconds after. I could also feel the vibrating in the wheel a little bit and more in the gas pedal. It doesn't happen often but it has happened a few times since then. Also a few days before it happened my coolant light popped on and when I checked the reservoir it was so far down I couldn't see liquid.
Anyone think the two are related or any ideas at all? any help is greatly appreciated.


Also, there was another thing I wanted to ask about thats not related. It hasn't happened recently but its been on my mind lately. A while ago when I started my car it started beeping through the stereo system. It let out about 6 or 7 very high pitched beeps lasting about 2 seconds each about a second apart. I have no idea why it would do that and was wondering if anyone knew. its happened about 3 or 4 times since i've owned the car.

As a stab in the dark, and using your descriptions, I reckon you got a water pump failing, and pretty far along the failure track by now.

Many other rotating components it could be, but coolant loss is my leading thought??.

 

I don't know about the first issue, but the beeping coming through the stereo is probably the antenna being "cleaned", or a tape in the cassette player being "cleaned", or an "error" with regards to the AC system (for that, it should say error or something to that extent on that screen.)
