That microswitch / alarm issue again...
The common problem! Trying to identify exactly what's at fault...
My alarm's doing the higher-pitched beep when locking - which I'm taking to mean that there's probably a duff microswitch in a door or the bonnet/boot. It used to do it once in a while (but not often enough for me to be able to locate the problem - it went away by itself!), but a few days ago it's started doing it pretty much the whole time.
My electronic boot release button has always been 'iffy' - working sometimes, but lately that's been less often. The dash button still works, as does the key, so I've not been overly bothered by it - there have been more urgent things to fix. That did lead me to suspect the boot as the cause of the alarm issue though - but the boot lights go off when the catch is closed, which suggests to me that the switch works ok? Conceivably the boot hinge wiring could still be at fault, or just not the boot at fault at all. I intend to have a look at the wiring at the hinge - it wants fixing at some point anyway so it might as well be now.
I've tried disconnecting the bonnet switch - no change, so I assume I can write that one off as a cause.
So what's next then?! Is the top suspect the drivers door? Is it likely to need cleaning or replacing?
Cheers!

So it 'complained' yesterday morning, was happy last night when I got home, and then not happy again this morning - I've only used the driver's door.
But even when it is in 'complaining mode', it does lock all of the doors. It doesn't do that if one of them is actually open...

By the same token, a wire to the ign barrel could be broken from the steering column moving in/out & up/down.
Cheers,
