Minor seat issue
Going through the to do list and I want to sort out an issue with the drivers seat. The seats are all electric with memory and all work fine on the switches. However, when I insert the key in the ignition, the steering wheel moves into its' programmed position, but the drivers seat stays put and I have to move it forward manually, using the switch.
When I remove the key, the steering wheel and seat both retract to the "parked" position.
When I programmed the wheel and seat into the memory, I got all the appropriate chimes etc. to say that it has been set.
Any thoughts on where to start looking? Thanks.

The seat memory is one of the flakiest controls on mid 90's Jags. It is often very forgetful
There was TSB about this, maybe try recalibrating the pots.

Thanks for the response. I checked out the link and there is certainly a ton of information to digest! I'll read through it a few times and maybe experiment on my donor car first! Very useful to do a run through without upsetting the daily driver!
Thanks again.

Probably a seat-pot issue. I've done the calibration and all I got for my trouble was disengagement of the seat cushion front up/down cable from its driving motor. Long ago established a work-around, though. Set the key and pos. 1 to wheel full up, seat where I want it for driving. Pos. 2 - seat stays put, but wheel down where I want it for driving. Take it out of "Auto" to keep your seat from sliding rearward into the boot everytime you take the key out. So I get in, hit "2" and am ready to go. Hit "1" for best ingress/egress position. Not as good as fully-functional memory seats, but workable.
Thanks for that, but I am a fussy old fart and like things to do as they are supposed to. Apart from that, having the sat slide back automatically, is a bit of a must as I am a long legged freak, and it saves me kicking the speaker cover on the door card to pieces. As it stands, I just bring the seat forward as the steering wheel is doing its' thing. But that's like having a dog and barking yourself.
Thanks for the input!
