Default M'Lady Penelope is gone

She was towed out of my brothers garage ( no call to me ) when evicted for no lease payment after he lost the house for not working for 8 years , He use to own house . I was making house lease payments to new landlord until ran out of 401 K money , now on good social security and 1 / 2 retirement , but too late

At Pick and Pull where they said I can't buy back as a salvage vehicle as a whole , only parts to total up to approximately 5 grand , and all my tools and parts lost

Title was erased by the state in the process as told by Pick and Pull , they see it about 4 times a month , 2 days too late for yard arrival and then processed

Someone mentioned a 1 year wait period then a different venue

State of Missouri

Any suggestions as worth keeping at 110 K miles , clearcoat shot by too strong a cleaner and leaper and wheels ( tires too old anyway ) and fwd cats removed so far

Sorry to see this, Parker. Sad situation. Other than a lowball yard accepted offer as a "collection of parts", maybe it is for the best to let her go now.

There can be another Lady in your life. You know they can still be found and all of them need a good home.

Parts already lost and someone will get those 308 headlamps, unless you take them back for the next Lady someday!

Condolences, Joe. Keep moving forward.

Since it needs a paint job, that alone would have cost more than you can buy another X300 that runs and drives and doesn't need a paint job. Now with very expensive parts missing too, let it go. When you are living on a fixed income in retirement (or getting close like I am), you have to start making very logical financial decisions and stop letting your car hobby rule your head. My family thinks I'm nuts for all the money I spend on practically worthless cars, and they are right, but I suffer from separation anxiety. I can buy cars, but I have a very hard time selling them. I finally convinced myself to let go of the X250 a few weeks ago, but it took a fellow long-standing member on here to post he was looking for one. I knew it would go good home where it would be kept in a garage and maintained as meticulously as I had done. Its more like in some cultures, arranging a marriage for a daughter rather than selling a car. I can't just list a car online and exchange it for money with a stranger. I have to make sure her new husband is going to treat her right and be able to take care of her. That's not the mindset of a rational man and I'd be retired already if not for all these cars. But don't name your next Jaguar. We get emotionally attached enough to our cars as it is without giving them names like they are a pet (or a daughter).

Parker7, this is a terrible story! I am so sorry to hear about this. The loss of tools is an additional kick in the nuts.

Thanks everyone as more mad at brother and father then landlord that tossed me and possessions in trash while fully aware of sick and social security pending as guarantied income , Judge and landlord lawyer no help either as facilitate the crash

I'll be visiting the salvage yard owner that I get parts from on his knowledge of Missouri options and if feasible

Paint and if salvageable ( base coat ) was still a variable considering my paint color choice

Carport is an option to monitor but the miles on Penelope were great

This is a bit heartbreaking.
My suggestion is to keep a close eye on Craigslist and Faceberg Marketplace for a replacement, there are often x300s listed and non runners are often a steal right now.
Searchtempest.com is useful too...

Thanks Oliver Marks , there is hope for a recovery

450 miles is manageable and with no dialysis coordination but avail along population way if needed ( time gap determined ) on through journey

I see the paint / topcoat condition and maybe later my choice of color ( hint , rise of the phoenix ) but current manageable / acceptable

Took ambulance to hospital for severe back pain I don't have a history of , and day out took a safety break as not safe driving and focusing on task so a couple hours at a hotel nap now better

Grew a large gray beard to look the part and meeting with landlord to rub in " really you did that " living in a New Beetle with all possessions throw away , I mean everything , the money was there " thanks for cutting me off at the knees " but my brother lost house for not working 8 years ( can't get around that )

The previous New Beetle owner is coming to take the license plates away but I have been driving it with expired plates for the last year and a half as Russian Roulette ( piece of garbage I got it through ) where my situation could totally collapse

Use to drive commute from St. Louis to Kansas City for years , Bedford , Indiana not far out ( well I take that back , 7.5 hours , maybe when I was younger )

Amtrak option to indy

Parker,

I feel heartsick after reading your initial post. The Jaguar is replaceable, but if you're like me, the loss of favorite and familiar tools may be even more tragic.

I'm thankful that at least your health has been good enough for you to continue contributing to these forums. Prayers for your health and for some good news in your life soon.

Blessings,

Don

Not sure how often x300s crop up in your area Parker but you might want to give it a few weeks to see what else pops up nearer home. I have search filters set up on craigslist for anything I'm looking for, they arrive as email notifications. You might want to try doing that.
There are lots of x300s in the bay area where I am, but I know they vary depending on region. Best o'luck and give your brother a slap from me!

Thanks Don ,

As I went through my medical journey ( kidneys went boom boom from kidney stone that never accrues ) this website and M'Lady P was and still is a venue to carry on forward

Whoever got my tools ( big airline history ) probably don't know how to use them , I failed to put a curse on them for the new aquire , they just went away

The many contributors on this website including yourself aided in all my knowledge of the X300 that which I can return as I continue to go forward

Someday I will post video on how a X300 works on Youtube but don't tell my father

Long live the ECU 2nd power source and connector Papa Indy 1

I'd be interested to know what the landlord did with the tools, might be worth a couple of us giving him a jingle on his phone to encourage him to do the right thing...?

A LA yard has a great source on E - Bay that they will hunt for in yard on request

A fresh parts arrival X300 came into the salvage yard I visit but with a black interior , nope . But there is material to work with

The great shape center armrest on Penelope was lost in the landlord's priorities / self importance

Landlord didn't care as I was in his way even though he knew the big human picture , one of his company associates that was in court during " the process " quit , his mother is in kidney dialysis so he knows

It was odd the landlord didn't invite me over for his families Thanksgiving or Christmas Dinner as I wouldn't have said anything , but what he uses for an excuse is my brother , don't know whatever happened to him or father but he did call to ask for a place to live

The only thing I was able to save was nothing but a moped ( Sweet Pea , hidden in woods ) I bought and got running to get me to dialysis

It's 50 CCs of awesome , the kind of ride that makes a boy into a man

Oliver Marks ,

I came up with a recovery plan that does not involve anything from yourself , but your finding is a path

Will have to text the craigslist individual in post # 11 to see if still available

Craigslist is how I found a non - running moped ( $ 150 ) up in Iowa in the pic above to get to dialysis after getting to run but winter ( hidden in woods now )

The VW / adobe had the license plate retrieved ( previous owner ) yesterday and no bill of sale for me to license / pulled over and impounding would be final outcome
