Default my car is on 'Roids.

a bit of a spin-off from my post asking for photos of X300 on Asteroids and 235/50x18s..
turns out, 235/50s don't fit the front wheel well of an X300, so here is a photo of the Daimler on Asteroids and 245/45 x18s (same diameter as 225/60x16)

I like..
..now I just need to get 'Blue' Dorward to graft on another 6 cylinders and 3.2 litres... (see my post in XJS section on TWR mechanic Blue..he has a stroked 6.4 XJS = 400bhp, 400ft/lb)

good luck!
Hens teeth - the most popular wheel, but they do crop up.
I got mine from Beachams, they were a little bent from a crashed XJR, but Noel at Big Value Tyres here in Napier straightened them for me.

If you are feeling flush, contact Steve at sbwheels.co.uk
He had some NOS Asteroids in boxes. 900 pounds for 4, plus shipping - gets expensive.

cheers, Al

Oh wow. I have never bought wheels in my life so I just assumed they were something you could rock down to the local tyre shop and pick up. Oops!

At least I know what style looks good, maybe I can find something similar...

Thinking about that, try Rodney Wreckers, up in Warkworth - they might be called Rodney Jaguar Rover now. They may have some Asteroids..

now the car looks so happy on the Asteroids, I am having disturbing thoughts of an engine transplant.
I have been a 'Q-car' guy for 20 years, and I am wondering about getting Blue Dorward to build me scary road V12, about 6 - 6.5 litres, but driveable in traffic (no race engine) then having it popped in this car.
I can't find any SWB V12 X300s in NZ - all seem to be LWB Double Sixes
This car has a good body, so it may be worth it.
I am assuming they all have the same brakes, suspension, etc..
I don't know how electrics vary between X300 6s and V12s

.. it would make a great sleeper, no?
I am also thinking a very light metallic gold respray of the asteroids would go well with the pale blue paint (a bit like the S4 Lotus Elan Sprints, but much more subtle), but could be a bit "off" ol'chap...
