No alarm chirp
Hi All
okay i have tried to get this working and no joy. I have tried the valet switch process, but i only get flashing headlights.
Is there a relay or something that may have gone stopping the system from chirping?
Car is a 1997 xj6 x300 3.2 sport.
Also another issue, when pulling away sometimes i get a sound like a groaning, my last one did this, is it usual?

I'm only a new guy as regards owning a Jag but exactly when is it that you are expecting to hear a "chirp" when using / setting the alarm?
As far as I understand it, when you close all the doors, trunk and hood and press the larger of the 2 buttons on the fob it all locks but there is no "chirp". You only get a "chirp" if you press the same button within so many seconds of the first press. This activates the Deadlock system which is signified by a "chirp" sound.
That's how it works on my car anyway.

Flash but no chirp may be OK
109muntaz,
In a thread that I started a while back wrt my 97 VDP, xjrguy said:
"As for the chirp, it is possible to turn that off with the Jaguar Diagnostic PDU. The flashes of the lights will always be present, so your car may have had the chirp turned off."
Here's the thread, FYI.

I also get light flash only, and no chirp. But I also haven't yet successfully got my two remotes to learn. The car came without any.
Good luck!

BTW, when locking and pressing the larger button, in addition to a single chirp, I also get another higher pitched chirp if I have left a door or the boot/trunk open.
Also, if the larger button is pressed a second time after the first locking press (and chirp), the headlights come on and remain on for about 30 seconds to aid parking/entering the house at night.
