No auto window close.
Had to disconnect the battery a few weeks back to do some welding done for the MOT. Now the auto window up and down no longer work, tried the solutions hold the windows down for 5 sec till you here a soft click to reset the limits and up again to do the same on all windows. Even took the battery off for an hour to make sure no software glitch. Is there an exact procedure to follow???.

Mine never did have auto close and just yesterday I was about to leave my car with the window open, for that reason. My car lives in an undergroud parking lot and from the moment I scan my entry card till I turn off the engine, it is one tight and twisty drive, that doesn't leave me time to put one hand on the window button for as long as it takes to close. So instead I wait until the car is parked. Or yesterday, until I have left the car and walked away, only to notice the window was open when I glanced back. Good thing the X300 has its great looks, or I wouldn't bother to take one final look when leaving it and the window would still be open :-)
If there is any way to get auto close, I am all ears (or eyes!).

As far as I know, there was never an auto up feature available using the rocker switch, just auto down. (unless perhaps it was fitted aftermarket?) There is, however, an 'all close' feature that will close all open windows and sunroof if the key is held in the lock position for a few seconds.

'All close' feature.....yes, that I knew about. I've never even tried it on my car. Maybe today I will just for the fun of it.
I thought we were talking about 'auto up' from the window switch on the door panel.
Cheers

On my X300, auto-down from the rocker switch has always worked, even after battery disconnect with no need of any sort of reset nor calibration. Likewise global open/global close from key in driver's door. Not so with the FOB, IIRC, holding either lock or unlock button down for 3 sec or so begats the panic alarm.
On the S-Types, every time I've ever disconnected the battery, I've had to to the window reset to get auto-up/auto-down restored. Global open works by holding the unlock down on the FOB. Global close only works with key in driver's door.
