Default No owners manual so no clue...

When I press the side button (where the turn signal is) I notice the odometer changes. Some of the things I understand, most I do not. Can anyone help me decipher these?

You can use the button to scroll thru the displays: trip odometer, fuel used, instant fuel economy, average fuel economy, fuel used, range, average speed.

(This from memory but I think that covers all of them)

Press the "odo" button to return to the regular odometer instantly. Press and hold "Res" to clear resettable info.

Others will chime in to cover anything I've missed.

Cheers

I think that's it Doug.

I will add that after you've had the display set on something other than the odometer for awhile (I don't know how long, lets say an on/off cycle of the car), the next time you press the turn signal switch, it goes back to the odometer.

Everything is somewhat explained on the display screen. If your numbers seem really off, check the km/miles switch on the side where the cruse control is located.

The two that don't make sense to me are
RNG - I'm assuming that means Range as in how many miles I have left
FUEL IST - No clue how to read that one

FUEL IST is instant fuel consumption. RNG is range.

Instant Fuel Consumption? So what is better? A higher number or a lower number?

... well, it's instant, and your fuel consumption, so..... a higher number would mean better fuel consumption, and a lower number would be worse. It's measured in MPGs.

Huh?

Me thinks you are driving in reverse THC.

Higher = more fuel being used at a given instant, measured in GPM or L/100 km depending on whether miles or km has been selected.

Really? I always thought it was measured in MPG. Hence, why I'm driving at 55mph, it reads 22 on the display screen, and why I'm accelerating heavily, it will go down to 2-5. Unless there is another setting and we're both thinking of two different things. I suppose several posts ago I got it wrong when I said it was "instant fuel consumption". I should have said it was instant MPGs. I apologize for misleading anyone.

Top Hat is right. On the USA cars, with the switch set to "Miles", the trip computer displays miles-per-gallon. So, yes, the higher the number, the better.

OK guys I can be completely wrong, nothing new here, but..

When I have mine set to km.

The INST fuel reading shows what you fuel are using at a given moment,(ie right now) calculated over a given instant (2 seconds I believe)?

In litres/100 km.

Thus the lower the number, the less fuel I am using? at this instant.

So it looks like the Jag can display both mpg and L/100km.

IMHO a fairly useless feature because does anyone change their driving style to max or min these figures. I know I don't.

The one I use the most is the DIST feature (old style trip setting), which I reset after adding fuel.

This is due to erratic an fuel gauge, at least I know that I can go 100km for 20 euros of juice, thus helping avoid the unforseen stop at the side of the road;(

I don't use Range, because this seems to be linked to the above mentioned erratic fuel gauge.
