I have a 96 xjr6 and when I press on the gas pedal nothing happens the car just idles, I have cleaned the throttle body and I have replaced both of the return sprints and from what I can tell it seems to be operating perfectly fine mechanically except for the fact that it dosent rev up at all or accelerate

 

Do you have traction control that retacts the throttle cable ?

traction control has a cylindrical cylinder on the cars right just fwd of the brake antiskid module with all the brake lines

Do you have a throttle position sensor CEL code

The TPS return wire to the ECU will be in the range of 0.60 volts DC at idle and increases on throttle up

This can be checked by nicking the wire insulation of the Green / Yellow color wire as it goes over the fuel rail

The engine does not need to be running for this test but the key has to be in the run position , just not started

Your supercharger intercooler way be in the way

 

Is your TPS plugged in?

 

my traction control has not worked since i have gotten the car and the cel bulb is out but i will scan for codes tonight and ill look into the traction control and see what i find by nicking the wire do you mean like cutting it a little or just using a multimeter on the pins in the connector

Your throttle body is different then the usual normal aspirated where the TPS is on the bottom

When I received my car the holding clip on the TPS connector was missing so the connector was just sitting on the TPS

You can pull a spare from a trunk dome light

You can shave off a little bit of insulation on the wire , Your TPS may be mounted to be more exposed so you may be able to slip a needle in the middle wire of the TPS connector

In this test the TPS has to be powered so the connector has to remain installed

 

Do not remove the TPS sensor from the throttle body as you can lose a important adjustment
