Default oil pan question

hi just wanted to know what would be the labor time on replacing the oil pan on a x300? my drain plug is screwed up over the years and cant find a rethread kit for it. I can find a used pan for under 200 bucks on ebay, but was wondering on labor and prices. thanks.

Hi, I have the same problem right now. I really don't understand why they designed to use such a big and hard plug made of steel to the soft aluminum oil pan...
You will have to jack up the engine when you replace the oil pan, so it will be a kind of hard labor. I am thinking of using a coil thread.

thanks motorcar! I was looking for something like that before but couldn't find it. Let me just ask you, when I am rethreading it, is it a big job? and also how does it work, do you use the small bolt again after? Because don't you have to go bigger when rethreading?

Thank you Bob, I was also looking for one. I had found some but all were quite expensive, but this one is pretty nice.

MLRocafella85, of course you have to drill a hole bigger than original, but the heli-coil has a right diameter and pitch, so when you install this, you can use the original drain plug. The heli-coil Bob introduced for us is the right one for the oil pan.
