Outer Headlamp
Hey guys
Last week I came home to find my beloved Scarlet (X300, 4.0L straight six, North American spec Vanden Plas) had a shattered outer drivers side headlamp cover.
After skulking around on eBay for a bit, I’ve found a few used replacement headlamps from Great Britain. Does anyone know it the fit from a British car the same as it would be on a North American spec car?
Thanks guys!
Ash

I would imagine that the dip beam pattern would be for RHD UK and not LHD.
The dip would therefore be to the wrong side of the road.
LHD and RHD outer headlamps have different part numbers and there are even different part numbers for North America LHD and Europe LHD..
LHD USA & CANADA JLM12415
LHD EUROPE ONLY JLM12413
RHD UK JLM12414G

They will fit, but the light beam will be angled for the wrong side of the road!
When travailing from the UK to Europe (where, like the USA, they drive on the wrong side (lol) of the road) we have to fit ‘beam deflectors which stops on coming traffic being dazzled.
You may find it easier to source a set of 4 X308 head lights. These are a popular ‘upgrade’ and are a a straight swap apart from the electrical connector which (hopefully) should be available with the lights.

Just a follow up!
Thanks for your support guys! I got lucky enough to find one at a local scrapper (can you believe it?). $80.00 locked and loaded, my Jag is no longer missing her eye. 😃

There is a good site talking about the swap here
Jaguar XJ6; Jaguar X300; X308 headlights
Jaguar XJ6; Jaguar X300; X308 headlights
If you drop by a salvage yard for a V8 powered X308 you can see the reflector shine difference , huge difference
I think there was a change in the glass lens to be more pebble chip resistant
Keep in mind the V brand on the glass is oriented up so you can read it and this helps with installation orientation as it follows the hood including the left to right within the left or right pairs curves
