Stereo 'Not cont' error

Stereo 'Not cont' error
Hi there,
I have the seemingly common 'not cont' error intermitantly showing on my head unit meaning the cd changer won't operate.
After a few searches it would appear that an SMD component requires re soldering. I cannot however find out what this SMD component is, how to find it or how to fix it!
I've already had the head unit out to clean the changer cable connection which improved matters but every now and again I still get the error.
Any help would be much appreciated, It looks like a number of people must have done this before.
Cheers,
John

Does anyone have a more detailed step by step repair
Preferably with additional pics. I’ve salvaged an original CD changer from a ‘97 X300 L and put it in my ‘96 X300 but I’m getting the “No Cont” message.
I get nothing displayed on the head unit when I press the CD button in the ‘97 even though the changer is getting power. When I switched the changer to the ‘96 I get the “No Cont” message. The battery is fully charged and only 6 months old so I don’t think it’s due to low voltage as has been suggested in another thread. I’m happy to attempt the repair but feel I’m lacking detail on how to proceed. I’d also be interested in any referrals to repair services to make the repair(s). Thank you

Ok, so like you I can not find a thread with pics (other than the one already linked).
But that one should point you in the right place if you have a soldering iron.
I did find one on how to reset your code (using a soldering iron)
https://www.xj40.com/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=5865
and from there, one that shows how to dismantle the AJ9100R from the xj40 which will be similar

As regards the "NO CONT" error, I have a different experience. My radio unit was faulty and I found a very clean and decent refurbished unit on eBay offered by a trusted source and so simply bought the unit. Hook it up and everything was fine, only to discover that after a while the CD unit stopped playing and the "NO CONT" error emerged. This phenomenon repeated many times and so I asked the repair shop about it. The shop said that as mine was a 1995 Hong Kong model but the replacement radio unit was from a later year that came with a U.S. model, the radio head unit and the CD changer might not be a perfect match. He let me return the refurbished unit to him and instead refurbish my original unit. The repair unit hooked up fine and has worked perfectly with the CD changer ever since.

Thank you for the additional info
I’ll pull the unit out and see if it all makes sense when I staring at it. I’ve attached pics of the changer in case that adds useful info. I see another reference to a “repair” shop but nothing specific, does anyone have positive experience with a specific shop preferably with reasonable costs?

Oh, that is a helpful pic!
It won’t ever work
That is not a Jaguar unit, and sadly, only Jaguar cd changers will work.
You say it came from a 97 car, but it didn’t work in that car. I think the previous owner was trying to fix an issue and installed the wrong part.

Lets have picture of the unit.
Do you get nothing displayed or no contact?

The best guess is that the head unit in the car had been swapped at sometime for one from an earlier car. Try swapping in the head unit that worked as well so they stay a pair.

There used to be cheap unit available to buy that did fool the head unit.
From this thread https://forums.jag-lovers.com/t/xk8-...i-net/248917/4
”When I fitted a standard Alpine changer in a '97 (M-Bus) I
bought an inexpensive inline converter that allowed the head
unit to think it was a Jag changer. ”
So it can be done, just have to see if someone still makes it!
