Stereo 'Not cont' error
There are plenty of Jag CD changers available under £40 on eBay. The Alpine will probably have a built in eeprom for identification with newer AJ9500R, same as the radio itself 24C01. Possibly simple job for someone with knowledge and an ic programmer but at less than £40 its not really worth it, just resell your generic alpine and get a proper Jaguar one.
As I said earlier, generic Alpine will only work with early Jaguars which have an earlier revision of AJ9500R. Later revision radio will only work with Jag CD changers. Starting Vin is in the TSB, think it was 745XXX, but best to check before buying a CD changer. Radio can also be checked, early revision that will work with generic Alpine will have a large resistor in the front right(?) corner, next to transistor with a heatsink, when later revision will not(it has two small SMD resistors instead).

£60. I did see few earlier last month that were cheaper than this.

So the old "CD NOT CONT" reared his ugly head here in East Texas in my 2006 XKR convertible.
I saw the referral to Southern Electronics, so I sent the head unit in to them.
They said the unit was un-repairable, so they sent me a replacement.
Installed the replacement, and it didn't resolve the issue.
They were also so kind as to include a new cable, which I tried (just running on the outside of the car) - still no luck.
So I played around by swapping some of the cables in the truck at the stack, and bypassed the navigation unit,
and was able to see the cd playing on the display on the head unit (but no sound),
so I thought maybe the nav unit was bad and not passing through the cd signal.
So I found a used nav unit (identical model number), but still have the same issue.
Thinking about looking for a cd changer, but I hate to keep just replacing parts, so I thought I would reach out to the forum.
Anyone have any suggestions?
TIA
Mike
