I am having an issue with the electronic trunk release. Once it is activated it does not return to the locked positon and the trunk won't latch closed. Is it normal for the arm to return to the extended postion automaticaly or is there suposed to be an external spring that causes this?

I do not know the year of your car; however, the 1995 xj6 had a TSB 76-101 the release button sticking

 

it's a 96. The problem isn't with the button as I can manually extend the actuator.
