Default question about front door panels, please read

hi, I have a 1996 X300 and I had 2 questions. Does anyone know what that black glue is called that holds at the door panel togather, its like some sort of like sealent or caulking, its also the same stuff thats used to hold the foam up behing the door panel. Also, what is that plastic bag behind the door panel? is that for moisture? thanks.

Hi Rocafella117

I don't know what the stuff is called, but you can find similar at your local DIY store in rolls for sealing around the house.

Yes the plastic bag is for preventing moisture intrusion. You will find drains at the bottom of the doors. In olden times, like not all that many years ago, car doors would rot out at the bottom because of retained water.
