Radiator cooling fans
I have a 95 XJ6. Bought this car with 65,000 miles on it six years ago. It now has 107,000 miles on it. I love this car and will probably never get rid of it. But I have a question about the cooling fans. When I first got the car I noticed The cooling fans ran all the time the engine was running. I took it to a local shop and they replaced the thermal switch. Fans still ran all the time. He checked with Jag and found there was a mod that put a jumper in the system that caused the fans to always run. If you remove the jumper it appears the fans will only run off the thermal switch. But we put the jumper back and I have been operating that way for 42,000 miles with no problem. The thermostat controls engine heat just fine and the car heater works fine in this configuration.
I would like to hear from any of you experts about this situation.
Let me hear from you.

Yes!!
Jaguar had problems with the A/C pressure switch and system pressures were too high without the fans. Jaguars answer was to put a 'shorting wire' to eliminate the switch from the system and run the fans with the ignition switch 'ON'.
You can plug the fan connector back into the switch (if it is still on the pipe), but if the switch fails then you will probably have A/C pressure problems.
I cannot find the TSB for the 'shorting wire' service action but here is the switch location TSB.
