Radio has a faint high/low alarm signal
And the CD was cycling, click, click, click all night.
I will locate and pull the fuse. Meanwhile, I have done a series of searches trying to use Boolean techniques to "include" a word with radio like "radio+alarm" or "radio+fuse." Useless, as I get posts with simply "radio" in them. Not helping.
Could use some of that help on the radio (btw, it won't turn on or do anything) and searches.
It's a '96 stock radio/6 CD changer). TIA.

Well, just before I completely removed the radio head, I reconnected it and it works. So, what did we learn here?
The radio has an internal alarm
It can be reset
You won't find that info here doing a Boolean search
I'll add some tags so this might help others.
Radio, alarm, reset, CD, stuck, click, clicking, fuse
If you think of others, hang 'em in here.

"Sounds" like it is time to install that aftermarket and be done with it. I have heard that kits are available for the swap. In my xj6, I cut the original plug off and hard-wired the new plug in (!), using the wiring diagram from the service manual.
Then you will have an in-dash CD player and probably a digital input. You will also have a much more modern look, more power and features too.
It is risky to try and repair an original, or to buy used, since at this age there are few left that don't have problems of some sort. That cost would buy a new basic unit.
Good question about boolean searches, to search phrases. I don't know if it is possible. There is a "tags" box at the bottom of each post.

Easy answer. The Alpine radios used by Jaguar in the X300s are notoriously troublesome.
I've had a variety of problems with them. Over the course of time I was able to gather up a few good used units as spares but all of them eventually gave trouble and I've exhausted my supply. One time I sent a faulty unit to an authorized Alpine/Jaguar repair station and they couldn't fix it.
I'm throwing in the towel!
Cheers
