Default Radio Upgrade Issue

Hi,
I am swapping out the factory radio in my 1997 XJ6L with a Kenwood model. The old factory unit has two wires connected to it that say "battery" the new unit only needs one wire. Which one do I use? Or are they the same and do I use both? I haven't been able to find a correct wiring diagram for this - the one listed in here didn't match any of the wire colors and I haven't been able to find an accurate diagram in the forums. Any help woul be most welcome!

The key-on power comes thru the Light Green with Orange stripe wire. The Brown with Grey stripe wire supplies 12V always. If youre sure the new unit only takes one, most likely youd use the LG/O. If the radio has a clock and if you store radio stations, the other continuous power wire would probably be needed!

Hello, I just wired new radio to my 97 x300. I wired all three 'battery' cables together and all works well. I knew to do this because I ordered a wiring harness from Autoleads PC2-55-4 - Jaguar Sovereign, XJ6, XK8, XKR, XJ-V8, XJ12 Wiring Harness to easily convert jag cable to standard ISO cable but I soon realized I could not use the ISO end of the cable for my unit so I cut it off and wired to new radio harness. When wiring the 'Autoleads' harness to new radio harness, I noticed exactly what you did...2 battery wires from Jag and 1 battery wire from new radio.

As a side note, the 'Autoleads' harness still worked great for me even though I didn't need the ISO end because it color codes all wires to existing standards and made wiring old to new a breeze! Though I believe that harness is only for non-amplified systems.

I ordered a fascia plate for radio there too.
Autoleads FP-14-00 - Jaguar XJ6, XJ12, Sovereign upto 1997 Fascia Trim Panel
