Reach motor calibration

Reach motor calibration
I've got the column out of my 3.2 Sovereign LWB (on Sports suspension) to replace the reach motor drive cable. I've got it all done, but I wanted to double check my numbers.
I made it 26 turns end-to-end on the threaded drive-shaft with the pot wiping from 10k down to 0.7k. I have therefore set it to 13 turns with the pot at about 5.3k. I used a screwdriver to move the little gear inside the pot until it read about right and then put it back on the motor.
Does that sound about right and/or does anyone know what numbers the control unit checks for when moving the steering in and out? This replacement rod is far more substantial than the old one so I don't want to burn the motor out or break something important.
Cheers

I would be more concerned with FULL retraction than FULL extension because the column retracts when set to AUTO. If the motor stalls due to limit stop, then the cable is stressed.
I have not done much diagnosis and replacement in the past several years but I think I used to run the column REACH motor (plugged into the harness) until the retraction limit was reached, then 'twirl' the column until it stopped. Then I would back it up a half turn or more to be sure it never reached the LIMIT of travel before the motor stopped. I would THEN install the motor on the column and reinstall the column.
I can stop the column REACH manually when the limit is reached but the AUTO will keep trying to RETRACT until something breaks!!!
