Hello everyone,
I am preparing to replace the rear shocks and foamy bits.

Here is a link to the Jaguar parts site that I'm using. Please see the rear suspension diagram at the top of the page.

At the top, you have the upper shock mount, secured by 4 bolts. #6 on the linked diagram.
Then, you have the spring upper isolator/insulator (foamy bit). #8 on the linked diagram.
Next is the upper spring seat. #9 on the linked diagram. I assume this is metal? I reuse the ones on my car?
Next is the spring insulator. In the diagram shown in the link, this is #10, and it shows one at the top and one at the bottom of the spring.
I know I need the #8. Do I need to order #9? Do I need to order two #10's for each side?
My Bilsteins came with all of the foamy bits. I just want to know what else I need to stop the metal rattle in the back of my car.

The new dampers SHOULD come with the UPPER/LOWER bushes.(as pictured in #11)
The ONLY wear item you will need is the UPPER SPRING ISOLATOR. (#8)

The lower spring isolator is almost always re-useable.(#10)

Now is the time to add another spacer to the top of the spring if you want to increase your rear ride height a little, to compensate for old spring sag. They are shown on your parts diagram near the bottom, MNA3562AA (3.4mm thick). The MNA3562BA is 6.5mm thick. Most (all?) cars have an upper spacer already but you can change it or add another one. There is no lower spring spacer because the bottom end is not flat like the upper end is.

The new foam spring insulator at the top will boost the ride height a little but not much. They settle in and flatten out a bit.

The diagram is not accurate showing a #10 at the top. Motorcarman is spot on as usual, you won't need to order those at all.

FYI the upper spring seat (#9) is metal, the lower spring insulator (#10) is rubber and has a divot for the spring, and the MNA spring spacers are ABS plastic.

 

Thanks for the suggestion on the spacers. I’ve got my whole rear suspension apart now to swap the diff and taking care of the shocks and some other things while I’m in there. Just ordered a pair of spacers.

 

So, you can put 2 spacers together?

 

I don't think the factory intended for more than 1 spacer. That's why there is a thicker one. But, two can be stacked. They fit snugly in the metal spring seat between the foam insulator and the top of the spring.

The spacers are flat on one side and tapered on the other side. Put the flat sides together, you can glue them if you want. That's what i did and finally got the height I needed and it looks great. No trouble at all.

One "problem" I had is that my car is a V12 and has very strong front springs which don't seem to sag with age! But the rear ones did.
