We'll be anxious to hear how your repair holds up. I think you chose a good product for the repair. The Plastic Bonder is definitely better at adhering to plastic parts than the regular Cold Weld product. Permatex also makes an excellent Plastic Welder in black and cream colors:
The long-time favorite JB Weld Cold Weld epoxy is a fantastic product that some of us have even used to repair eroded areas in the gasket surfaces of cylinder heads, but it doesn't bond to plastic quite as well as the newer products specifically designed for that purpose.
Yes I have used both and regular JB Weld will fail on plastic real easy. I know they say it works on plastic they just don't say how well it works. Try the JB Weld plastic bonder. It works but as always we are expecting too much when we repair plastic.

Interesting that folks have had trouble with JB Weld on plastic. I've used it to repair the glovebox latch and cupholder release on my XJR, and so far they've held up very well. I did use quite a lot of the stuff, and I don't use the car that much, so both of those probably help.
