Replacement chip key

Has anyone found a programmable substitute that works okay? Or is it only possible to use the original chip?

I've lost my keys but I did save a photo of the key on each side, which I can use to reverse-engineer the key code

is it possible to program in the new key on the 1996 xjr6 without the old one present??

No idea where you are but NORTH AMERICA did NOT start the RFID keys until 1998.

Might want to tell us where you are located?

I'm in NZ but the car was imported from the UK, it's a 1996 xjr6
