Question Replacing differential

After considering self-rebuilding my diff, I decided to replace it with a rebuilt one.I am in South Korea, and for some reasons vin numbers do not match the ones I have found on various websites. So I have a few questions I would appreciate help with: My vin is 756450 I know about the letters meaning, but what is the year of manufacture 1995 or 1996 ?
2. I have the Jurid flange type.
3. What is the ratio of the diff ? 3.58 0r 4.09
4. As I am replacing it, which would give me a better mileage ?
Any info would be appreciated, and or advice as what to fit.

My 6/95 build 1995 XJR is 749557. Yours is probably a '95 but it might be on the cusp. Model year delineations often vary depending on market. Shouldn't make any difference as far as X300 differentials go. They should all fit the same AFAIK

3.58 was standard issue on X300 4.0 litre automatics. 4.09 was standard on X300 3.2 litre manual transmission cars.

3.58 would give better fuel econonomy

Cheers

According to the MY95 brochure I have, 4.09 was for the 3.2 autos and all the 3.2 manuals had a 3.77 diff. The XJR had a 3.27 diff and the N/A 4.0 and the V12 both had the 3.58, regardless of box.

You could always call your nearest Jaguar Dealer and ask for a quote for supplying a diff. They'd have to look up the original build spec of your vehicle to be able to give you a cost.

I forgot to add, your car is most likely from the 1996 model year (August 1995 to July 1996) as MY96 started at 754304. I don't think that changes anything about the diff though.

There is a metal tag mounted on the right side of the rear cover with the ratio stamped on it.
