Default Reprogramming Replacement Security/Lock Module

The Security/Lock Module on our ‘96 XJR has failed and we’ve bought a used replacement unit. What is the process for reprogramming the replacement module, in part so that our key fobs work to lock/unlock the doors, but also to open the trunk?

I have the procedure for reprogramming a replacement key fob, but not for reprogramming the Security/Lock Module.

I don't think the new module will need any programming, it should be plug and play. It would be a good idea to remove the negative battery cable before you replace it. Make sure the new unit is the same frequency as the old, which should be 433, unless before VIN 759614, then it is 315. Then you will be matched up with the original fob's frequency.

Then of course the fobs will need reprogramming with the new unit in place.
