Right Brake Light Always On With Parking Lamps
Hello,
I've noticed that when stepping on the brake, my bulb failure indicator always illuminates on my '96 XJ12.
Looking at the outside of the car, it appears that whenever the parking lamps are on (either from the security system flashing them, or actually turning the parking lamps or headlamps on via the switch) my Right hand brake lamp is illuminated brightly, instead of just the parking lamp filament of the bulb being lit, like it should.
I've replaced the Lamp Control Module with a known-good unit and it still happens. I've obviously replaced the bulb, too.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Nick

Turns out I made the same mistake the previous owner made.
Installed the bulb backwards, meaning it was 180 degrees off. I just stupidly assumed it could be installed either way.
My Jag mechanic figured it out in about 5 minutes. This is after I swapped out LCM's, and even scored a Security Module from Pick-and-Pull. I was even thinking maybe the traces in the bulb holder could've been bad...
Either way, no more bulb failure lamp on the cluster, so I'm happy.
