Default Screen Washer Relay - 1995 Jaguar XJR

My windscreen washer doesn't work. Not unusual I guess. Before tinkering further, I thought I'd have a look at fuses and relays. The relay layout wasn't really what I was expecting. Interestingly disconnecting all three directly in front of the fuse box on the right seems to make no difference whatsover to the working of the car, which is generally pretty good. Everything works apart from the windscreen washer. Anyhow, wondered if there's anybody in the Manchester / Stockport area of England with an X300 whose engine bay I could come and have a peek at? Cheers, Richard.

The washer relay ( s ) wiring goes through the square black 13 pin connector under the bottom of the car which has exposured to the environment

There are 2 , one for the windshield screen and one for the headlights if you have that option

see page 17

X300 1996 LWB.pdf (jagrepair.com)

YOUR 95 MAY BE SPESIFIC TO THE EARLY LAYOUT AS THERE WAS SOME CHANGES GOING INTO 96

The spesific windshield pump relat will have the following-colored wires

Brown / Blue - muscle power , fuse # 13 / 10 amp right engine bay fuse box

White / Blue - relay control power , fuse # 10 / 5 amp right engine bay fuse box/

Yellow / Green - to the pump motor

Light Green / Yellow - relay control ground provided by the Body Processor Module

There was a fuse uprating TSB put out after your manufacture

15-16 (jagrepair.com)

On second ;look at the wiring Guide the wash pump wiring does not run through the 13 pin connector under the car

In the end the Body Processor Module provides a ground to close the relay on wire Light Green / Yellow so you can cut that wire and provide a ground to test , the body rail coming back from the headlights has ground studs on it

Make sure you check the 2 fuses required for that one specific pump

Replacing the windscreen washer pump with a new one resolved my issue.
