Default Seat heater relay location

I have a 1995 XJR and the drivers side seat heater doesn't work. The passengers side does, and when I push the dash button I can hear the relay click. When I push the drivers side button there is no click and no heat.

The electrical guide says that the relays are under the seat, should be 3 in total for heat and rise/fall. I can't see any relays under either of my front seats, any idea where I might find the relays? All that is there is the big black box for the seat module and the various motors.

My car is an early XJR, 10/94 build date.

That's the drawing I was looking at in the electrical manual. It appears to bear no resemblance to what's in my car though!

I suspect that if you are seeing the seat control module only under your seat that your car may have a later system.

I have seat heaters in mine but no relays, they take an output from the module under the seat.

Try disconnecting the module, clean the connector and then refit. This once happened on mine and that is all I did to get it working.

I finally had time to look at the seat today, and it turns out the heater element is burned out, thus no heat.

I presume you'll buy aftermarket heating elements to replace the burned out originals? They're (much) less than half the price of the Jaguar supplied replacements.

Cheers

No, I'm not putting any more money than necessary into this car. I bought it as a non runner with a rusty body and my intention is to transfer the engine and transmission into my Daimler DS420 in the spring. It's going to be driven as a "winter beater" until spring. It would have been nice to have the seat heater work, but not essential.

Cheers,
Craig

Ah, yes. Now I remember your plans.

Although.....

Considering the slightly pathetic performance of the X300 climate control when toe-thawing heat is required functional seat heaters would be a real plus....even for a beater....and especially in Calgary

Cheers

True! I was at the junkyard on the weekend and there was a 94 XJ6 there, I might pull the heater out of that seat and swap it over. Still a pain to take a seat apart.
