My sport switch no longer works. I tried a different one and I don't aven think it is lighting up. Is there a fuse for it or does it get the power off the transmission

Well after some reading it looks like this is a linear switch problem. I just so happen to have an extra so I first cleaned them both, looks like someone spilled a milkshake on both, replaced them and still no sport mode.

I checked the switch and the two wires on the outside were getting power, I think one was two volts less than the other,, and the two internal were showing ground so not sure why no light, no sport on the dash and would not go into sport mode

Have you confirmed whether the bulb works?

I think I was just trying to make sure we eliminated the possibility that the light bulb behind the dashboard hasn't simply burned out?

Hmmmm good point. Now if I knew the combo of the switch that should turn it on I could simulate the switch. I think the only other thing it could d be is the transmission module based on the electronic schematic. I think my next type is to try out your theory

Does the x1 side of the switch work? When you flick it on to the x1 side, does that light come on?

This site has all the wiring diagrams.

Someone recently had the transmission connector ajar

All the fuses to the transmission ECU ?

Is the switch a momentary contact even though it would appear to be one state or the other ?

The shift points are from the inside transmission speed sensor and if faulty it may come from the left rear wheel by default if it is in default, it may not give your sport mode

Well, I must eat crow. Last night Vee's comments were bothering me. So the first thing I did was to pull the switch out. I made sure that it was working right with a multimeter, and one of them was. I then pulled the switch apart and pulled the light off. I had an led, and I mounted it in the rubber mount and used a bench power supply, and what do you know, it came on. Then I started thinking about the light in the dash. What are the chances that this one light out of like 30 blew....not very good. So I went ahead and pulled the cluster off, having plenty of scrapes and scratches to show for it. That damn plug on the right is a PITA. I brought it to my bench pulled off the lights on that side of the cluster which was about 4 of them. I pulled out my multimeter and checked the bulbs. Damnit, the darn sport bulb was out. While I had it out, I checked all the other bulbs, and all others were working fine. So I replaced it, and I had lights. Now I need to go out and test the car. What are the chances......I did have one bad switch though

Can I have a side of BBQ sauce with the crow?

yes the light bulbs can be replaced most of the time they are out you can replace them with LED lights. Be careful with taking the switch apart because it can break really easily. You have to pull the white piece of the switch through the bottom

If you find a valet switch you can use the same housing after you take a little plastic out of it. I wonder how I know that. You must ensure that you have the polarity right on the led. Take a multimeter and insure all your connections are good
