I work in a garage and there is actually a TSB on this issue if the light only comes on intermittantly (as it does in my XJ6). The wiring harness going to the airbag module itself has the tendancy to come loose at times, and trip the light on and off every once in a while. My light has come on twice since I've had the car in the past month, but resets itself everytime I turn the car off for a couple minutes and restart it. Draw the code and see if this is the reason your light is coming on or if it's a different issue before you simply start throwing parts at it

bhmaxjag do you mean that a connector on the airbag diagnostic monitor module fails? Or is it on one of the airbags?

Rads...it's a connector that rests behind the dash panel directly under the steering column. The wire runs up through the column into the driver's side airbag...so in short...it's a connector for the airbag itself. I will add that about 6 months after performing this repair on my own 95 XJ6 the dreaded light came back on, but this time the culprit was a different connector (the one right at the drivers side airbag)...which is also a simple fix. Simply remove the two torx screws from the back of the steering wheel to release the airbag module...gently pull it forward towards you...you will see the connector. Zip tie..reverse removal procedure and you're done! Also please remember to disconnect your battery and wait a good 5 minutes before working on the airbag system!

could also be a cancellation module which is pretty much the clockspring in your steering wheel. I had that problem before it was like 300 plus labor to fix it on my 96 xj6.

That is true Rocafella, but in most cases it's extremely rare for the clockspring to fail on it's own. They usually break from a technician following poor procedures while replacing a steering rack (or box in certain trucks). Disconnecting the rack or box allows the steering wheel to spin freely, and if the tech is lazy and doesn't lock the steering it's possible for the wheel to spin around and around and around til SNAP. Broken clock spring. It's rare for them to fail outright though possible. Also in most cases when they do fail your horn will also not work as well
