Stalling problem 1996, XJ-6
Dear gentlemen,
I've been fighting this battle for a while. The car is stalling at low speeds. This morning while driving on the highway we approached a traffic jam. When I reduced the speed, the car stalls when it reaches about 10 mph. It turns on immediately when I restart it. I notice that the voltage fluctuates before it dies. My mechanic recently replaced the crank position sensor because the car was not starting/rough start. Also recently, a Sears shop recently replaced the accessory and AC belt (the only two rubber belts). Thank your responses!

Mmmmm, a USA market car.
I would be getting the "idle control valve" looked at, they do carbon up.
The EGR (exhaust gas recirculator) system you have in your market, also reeks havoc with idle. I am of no help with that, we dont have that system.
The inside bore of the throttle body itself is prone to "black carbon goo" build up, which also causes idle issues. A simple wipe out with a solvent soaked rag (petrol if nothing else is available) will restore the throttle disc gap, and may sort the stalling.

I would check everything grant said, but it may also be ur throttle position sensor. I changed my egr iacv and even put a fresh tb only to determine in the end that the tps was defective. I would also check the mechanical screw on the side of the tb and do minor adjustments, that may work for you too. Also an engine setup may be needed.
