Steering Pump?

My '96 XJ6 with 85K miles has a small steering quirk. At slow speeds the steering is perfect when turning left, but needs more effort turning right for the fisrt 2 seconds. It just feels annoying. There almost seems to be a delay before the full power assist kicks in. Otherwise steering is normal. Fluid resevoir is full.
Is this the pump?....and if so how easy is t to replace as I am sure the dealer will charge a fortune???
Any help is appreciated.

it's a 2 piece pump ... you can replace the whole thing yourself but all that needs replacement is the one piece.. which you need a special tool to take them apart. but the dealer cantake it apart.. and save you the $$$ . or replace the whole assembly yourself a pay$$

Thanks fo your reply. I took my Jag to the dealer to rectify the problem. They found a leaking stering hose which they replaced for about $400, but the problem is still there. Exactly what should I tell them needs to be replaced so they do not do unnecessary work...and how much should this cost me. Ay assistance is much appreciated. Regards, Fred
We sell a bolt on remanufactured p/s pump for $295 exchange. Core charge is $113, so it goes out the door at $408. You get the core charge back after we receive your old, rebuildable core.
