Hello fellow money pit friends.Getting ready to attempt to install a steering rack in my 96 xj6. Looking on ebay they come with or without sensors. How do you tell the difference.Hopeing for some help from someone that has done this or knows how to do this procedure.Any pointers will be helpful,I have done alot of work on cars in general and realize that a small mistake can end up costing alot of money and would really like to avoid that .THANKS ALL

I took a quick peek at the procedure as outlined in the service manual and it looks pretty much like ordinary nut-n-bolt stuff.

It does specifically state that new mounting bolts must be used, though

Cheers

Do you have a JTIS CD? They are indispensable if you are going to work on these cars. Cheap at $10-$15 each. They are all over the place... ebay, etc. There is no hard copy manuals, so you need to get one of these.. gordo

I got a subscription to all data and I dont see where it tells you step by step what to do.Ive downloaded a cd I got off ebay and cant seem to get it to work either. Also downloaded jtis file on line and cant figure that out that. Im new at this computer stuff and would rather have a book to use thats the way I usually operate.I know its me im doing something wrong. But figuring this out will probably take longer than replacing the rack[sm=helpout.gif]
