Am on the lookout for a SWB XJ, prefer the X300. Not a fan at all for the LWB, I find it stretches the car too much (& I do not need the room). I read that USA delivered X300 were Long Wheel Base from MY95 onwards. Looking at ads for cars from 1994/5 it seems there are only cars with LWB.
Have there been X300 delivered in the USA with SWB? VandenPlas versions too? A SWB VdP would be the ideal car for me.

 

As I recall, all of the USA-market X300s were short wheelbase. XJ6, XJR, V12, and VDP...all of them....for 1995 model year

For 1996-97 model year (and again, USA market) the XJR remained SWB while the V12 and VDP went to LWB. Not sure about the standard XJ6.

Mine is a SWB 96 X300 Sovereign model

Quick way to tell is the rear door has a measurement of 36 inches on the window lower edge on the glass other then the trim being longer

The LWB would be an additional 6 inches to that

The model designation for the Sovereign LWB is the X306 and is a certain digit in the VIN # I can't recall

The option package can very on the X306 if I recall

Some of the options like chrome mirrors and such can be swapped over

Not all SWB X300s came with full chrome around the windows

List what you like and I;ll tell you if they can be added from a donor car or Ebay and the work involved

The V12 X300 is a model X305

 

The 1996/97 are available in EITHER SWB or LWB. You order the base model from the factory EITHER WAY.

Are you in the USA or in the Netherlands? I know in the usa my 95 were SWB, even the Vanden Plas. A SWB Vanden Plas is a sexy beast......Here is mine.
