Default Temp sensor for EGR???

just found out about this, how important is this sensor?? have a 1995 xj6 with 196,000, been having some issue with the check engine lite,in this car it aways seems to be the egrhave had about 4 egr valve put in over its life time, bough the car when it had 17,000 mile on it back in 1996, at 40,000 it had to have a new egr valve install by jag in tucson, az, where we lived at that time, about 80,000 same thing and again around 125,000,just wondering about this temp sensor for egr valve, can it be some of the problems, too?? can the probe be cleaned???, at this point, does it get like a carbon build-up?? have gone thru all my records since day one, dont have any doc's of this being changed, i just put a new egr valve in it about 25,000 miles ago, check eng like came on about about 5000 mile back, thats only 20k on egr ,,,took egr valve cleaned it and the 2 ports going into engine and throttle body area lots of carbon build up there. also how important is the gasket under egr, since i've remove it a couple of times, does tightening and re-tighten have anything to do with any kind of tolerenace????

Default

Might be a problem with the egr temp sensor out of tolerance causing carbon build up that feeds ecu to open and close egr valve
