Default Throttle body differences

I notice that on a 97 3.2 x300 Sovereign the throttle has two cables running to it, but on a 96 4.0 x300 Sovereign, there is only one. Both cars have cruise control, but the 4.0l has economy and sport modes. That is the only difference that I can find, so why the different "throttle cable" arrangements?

Thanks.

Just a guess....

The second cable on the 3.2 is a "throttle valve" cable for the transmission, used to control shift points. Since the 4.0 uses an electronically controlled transmission the cable is not used.
