Default Trans won't come out of park

Automatic transmission shifter won't come out of the PARK position sometimes. After I start up I put my foot on the brake pedel and try to put the transmission in DRIVE from the PARK position it wont come out of the PARK position. It will come out after I press on the brake pedel a few times. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS ON HOW TO FIX THE PROBLEM?

I seem to remember some isues with the stop light switch itself. I reckon there was a part number change early in the run.

When you press on the brakes "listen carefully", so stereos etc OFF, and you should hear the solenoid in the console "click". Now if the "click" is after a few stomps, I reckon its the switch. Have someone check your stop lamps, to make sure they are working.
