Asking for repair options . My Lady P. has 2 cracks I spotted in removing the exhaust line . Can it be done on- car . Or does the casting have to come out ? One of the cracks is at the yoke or juncture of 2 to 3 cross member . I at this time have the Y - pipe section cut out for repairs so will possibly have to cut out another 12 inches .

I had a customer that complained of noisy/vibrating engine and found the aluminum bracket completely broken and laying on top of the exhaust pipe.

I would get a good used bracket (or remove and attempt to weld it).

They can't cost much from a salvage yard.

Thanks Motorcarman , Looks like may biggest obstacle is to remove the aft intermediate exhaust silencer section because I can't get a driveshaft shoring cradle with it in the way . Exhaust clamp seizures and cut and splice limitations . So I may have to hope for the best to get past Missouri inspection and have it welded in place on car at a later date ( if that is possible ). Probable my best option in my driveway . Luckily it is not completely broke ( yet ) .

You can use a pipe chain cutter and a dual clamp exhaust sleeve.

Thanks , been looking for a cuplier like that for the past week . The standard has the round threaded U bar that takes to much space . Used a cut off wheel to get the y pipe off earlier and the pipe chain cutter you suggested may be a solution aft of the intermediate silencer section .

VW/Audi uses these coupler sleeves but they are metric so I don't know the fit for the X300 exhaust.

I'm sure places like JEGS or SUMMIT RACING etc. carry something like this.

Lady P pipes are 60 mm or 0.365 inch shy of 2 and 3/8 OD with a micrometer with some exceptions .

I have always wondered: what is the purpose of that round rubber part labelled as no.8 in the diagram?

That got me to looking at other X300's to see if it ties into something and it does not

Can only speculate how it got there and if it was for a different engine option that never materialized like a diesel / transmission
