My 96 XJR has no first gear, and no 4th gear, well 4th gear has the same engine speed per mph as 3rd gear, but when I let off on the throttle, the engine drops to an idle in 4th no matter what speed. The code(s) are p0753 "shift solenoid A, electrical", and p1775. my question is what is the p1775. on this forum I have read that it is kind of a general fault code that will come on for a number of reasons, but nothing really spacific. can the 0753 be causing the 1775? I've done a little google searching on the various codes, and it seems that nomatter what the car, A 0753 code is always "shift solenoid A, electrical" and the second code p1775 is always "solenoid switch valve locked in TCC position"(whatever that means) except for jaguar, which simply says "gearbox fault". can someone straighten me out here? is this second code serious or not? Hi Mike. Did this problem ever get solved. My 96XJR does the same now. I'm driving along at regular road speed and I feel the engine cut-off and go silent. This happens every couple of days/weeks.
(3-codes on Innova 1003 Diagnostic Tool CAN-0BD2)
Code P1775 (Transmission System MIL Fault)
Code P1791 (Trottle position Electrical signal failure)
Code P1791 (same code as #2, it came up twice)
I've also had Code P0726 (Engine Speed Input Circuit)
No solutions yet for mine... How about yours?

did you ever learn your problem with your XJR, mine does the same thing.
I get the trans light and the 0726 no engine speed signal from what I have been able to come up with the code 0726 no engine speed signal is what is tripping the trans light as the speed of the trans and the engine are not matching also my tach is not working.
I was wondering if you got yours figured out.
