Hey,
I was driving approx 40km/h when the car died, and it wont start. It turns over, but feels like there's no spark?
Replaced fuel filter, spark plugs and air filter last week, if that matters. Car is also converted to LPG, it was running on lpg when it died. It wont start on gas nor lpg though.
I dont think so...
I checked some other threads, and if understand this properly - if it shows 200rpm, you dont know really know if sensor needs replacing - it might, or it might now. But if needle doesn't move at all, it's 100% crank position sensor. Correct?
Also, by your signature, you are past that "magical" 100K mile mark, and for some alien reson these sensors go legs up anytime after that "magic" point, so a good bet in my opinion, and they are not expensive.
The electrical connector for that sensor is also a possible cause, it is vertically mounted, and general crud gets inside the plastic and CAN cause continuity issues.
Very little else on the X300 dies like that little item.

The one on your car is someone's jury rig idea of a sensor, the one you ordered is the right one. My original went out at 80k when I went to change out the bracket to "Andy's bracket" it turned to dust. Having seen your picture of what's on your car I'm pretty sure it's your problem. Unfortunately it looks like someone's replaced the "plug" with wire splices.
I agree, that is not the correct part; looks more like a wheel speed sensor for abs, and not from an X300. Interesting that the car ran at all, and can't help thinking it will run better with the correct sensor fitted.

Oh my God...
I decided to go ahead and do a quick search, this is what turned up:
The "F" appears here as the same basic word in both adjective and noun form.
What a hack! We should have a sticky where we can post real-life stories about how our cars were hacked while in the "careless owner(s)" phase of their history. Of course there would always be a restoration and happy ending to each story. I'm sure we would have many to share, unfortunately!
