Default Vanden Plas seats in a Sovereign

Ive got a 1996 XJ6 Sovereign and I would really like to have the vanden plas setbacks in my car so i have the tray tables for rear seat passengers. I know that the seat backs arent exactly a take off and bolt on thing as the VDP backs are larger than the normal. I need new front seats anyway so I was wondering if anyone knew where to find seats in good condition. I would consider trying to mount the VDP seat backs onto sovereign seats if anyone has had success doing so. All input is appreciated!

I have the picnic tables off a VDP to be put onto a Sovereign

Having the VDP front seat backshells that are higher this is my plan

The original Soverign backshells have the same bottom 2 screws way under the bottom and the top clips as the Soverign secures to the top is taken care of by the table arms mounting hardware on the VDP

I have the VDP backshells and are higher and the padding on the the back of the Soverign front seat prevents the backshells from mounting flush

The height is not a concern as it looks the same

Without cutting the leather of the original Sovereign seat I should be able to remove the stuffing and the VDP backshell may mount with a better flush

I may have to cut away the leather to get a better flush but that would take some commitment

The front seat new leather skins ( not a cover over the original skins ) are available for a decent price if I can remember the vendor and post on someone using the product

They will send you a color match swab and your interior color code is on the door sill sticker , mine is original oatmeal and the VDP backshell is also oatmeal

If you could take some pictures when you do it then that would be very much appreciated, right now I'm just trying to find the backshells from a X300 VDP and I can really only find X308 VDP backshells so it seems like you are quite a bit ahead of me.

Yes X308 are different and look for the interior color code as the colors are close if relying on a photographic memory and finding out when home they are off color
