Vibrations on high speeds

Vibrations on high speeds
I know this should be something simple but both my summer and winter set rims have lately configured with new tyre but I after 120km/h I have strong vibrations on the steering g wheel and in case of braking it becomes worst. Brakes although work fine up to 100km/h with no problems.
Also on hard braking on high speeds the car tends to oversteer with the rear going out in any directions which I have to fix with the steering in order to stay in my line. Plus the vibrations.
can it be just the rims or the disc brakes or both or something more?

Vibration at idling is normally caused by worn engine mounts (front and/or rear), the latter is sometimes known as the transmission mount.
Vibration at the steering wheel around 100 kph is usually sign of poor balancing of the front wheels, but note that you have new tires configured with the rims.
If car fails in straight line braking it is usually loss of balance in the brakes on the same axle due to vacuum loss, failing calipers and or ABS sensors? Brake calipers If vibration worsen during braking, it could be sign of a distorted brake discs. Conduct a visual inspection of even wear in the tires, raise the each wheel and turn it by hand and look for abnormal spinning circle. But first thing first do you have tires of the same age, size and pattern and even wear on each axle?

It sounds just like warped brake discs. If you re-balance your wheels (any tire shop can see on the balancer, if your wheels are bent) and the vibration still exists, then brake discs it is. Free tip (enter at your own risk), rear brake discs can be "fixed" with a proper burnout, been there, done that with my bmw.

Hi Andreas,
To me, it sounds like you may have multiple issues:
1. A wheel balance issue that resonates at speeds above 120km/h;
2. A warped brake rotor/disc that makes the steering wheel vibration worsen during braking - typically you may also feel pulsations in the brake pedal;
3. Worn suspension bushings, in particular the front lower control arm bushings and the large rear subframe bushings that connect the subframe to the edges of the body (these have a surprising impact on steering and stability of the vehicle).
I would also recommend that you check your front wheel bearings and ball joints.
Please keep us informed.
Cheers,
Don
