Default Walnut Shift Knob

Has anyone purchased the Walnut/Chrome shift knob from Welsh? The reason I ask is that they offer two walnut knobs, one is walnut/gold and one is walnut/chrome. I want the chrome trim but the description says it fits 88-95 XJ6's, however, the one with the gold trim say it fits 88-97
XJ6's. The only difference I see is the chrome trim one has a set screw where as there is no set screw in the gold trimmed one. Is this a typo in the description or am I missing something? I will call them on Monday but in the mean time if anyone has purchased this or been to the website to check them out I'd like to know if it would fit my 96 VDP.

Thanks!

how does one get one's knob off, so to speak?
I have tried giving mine a sharp twist anti-c/wise with no joy.
What's the trick?

I just twisted mine. It did take some effort but it broke loose, then you can carefully use a cresent wrench on the chrome stopper below (I put a cloth around it first).

I think you undo the chrome nut under the knob first the undo the knob.

If the knob has a set screw I would say it's a generic one that fits all types of car rather than one that's Jaguar specific.

I received the knob today and I am very pleased it is even nicer than it appears in the photo on their website. The set screw actuall points towards the steering wheel so it is not noticeable at all. The walnut is slightly darker than the rest of the trim but looks beautiful. It really makes a big difference and it was much cheaper than others I looked at. If anyone is considering this upgrade it's worth a look, just go to the website and look under "xj6 1995-1997."
