Default What is this leak?

I finished the cam cover gaskets. Got everything put back together. New spark plugs and new coil packs. Alternator rebuilt. Started it. Running very good. Volts are where they should be. I was looking for leaks. I found one. Not from the cam cover. It's just above the engine number. I made a video. Sorry for the fan noise. Any ideas? Can I smear some RTV on it to stop it?

That is the VERY COMMON head gasket leak from the exhaust cam oil feed gallery.
The leak has been a plague since the AJ6 engine introduction.
Jaguar issued several SUPERSEDED head gaskets for the AJ6/AJ16 engines.
The intake cam oil gallery has a locating ring/hollow dowel around it so it is not as susceptible to leakage.
The only way I know to stop the leak (for a while) is to replace the head gasket.

Has anyone found a sealant that works well?
I saw one from the GOOP company that says it works with oil and gasoline.
Anyone try it? Or JB Weld?

In order to access the oil gallery to apply the sealant you would need to remove the head.

Why not replace the head gasket while you have the head OFF??

Unfortunately I have this same leak. I attempted to apply high temp gasket maker and also exhaust putty. Both of which have failed, but managed to reduce the amount that seeps out.I doubt this will be an issue as long as you top off your oil. But I'm going to attempt to reapply but be sure to thoroughly clean the area so the putty or gasket maker adheres well to the surface.

edit: I apply it on the outside of course, at this time I do not have the means to have a new head gasket installed

Hi Todd, yes I've got one like that, not as bad as yours, I just live with it, been like it since I've owned the car, very occasionally I spray it down with some brake cleaner.
