Window seals, reassembly after complete repainting!
Hello everyone and have a good Sunday ☀️🌞
After the complete repainting British Raging Green of my X300 now I have to reassemble everything...! 😅😅
I've mounted before the 4 windows first and then I thought about inserting the rubber gaskets, but I realize that it is very difficult to insert them between the glass and the slide rail... If I had placed the gaskets earlier I saw that I would have had difficulty inserting the glass...
Has anyone been faced with this situation before? Or can you suggest me where to find directions...?
I didn't find any answer in the workshop manual... Thank you very much for your attention... 😉

I see your question better with the pic , thanks
is the issue of the outer lower horizontal chrome piece off reinstallation order
In your first pic is the hanging down vertical rubber left over supposed to go fwd along the inside of the glass horizontally , opposite of the chrome piece after chrome installation
I myself only had the outer horizontal chrome off
Rounded off corners and edge putty knife be of any help ?

Huh... The problem is that the gasket must fit in the same slide rail as the glass, but if you insert the gasket first the glass does not fit, if you mount the glass first it is the gasket that does not fit... 🙄😅 😅
However, I think the best solution is to disassemble the windows and try to fix the gasket and then try to insert the glass...

Vertical slide rail go down into the interior of the door as the glass is rolled down ?
I see no bend in the rubber seal hanging down to indicate it bends 90 degrees

Yes, the gasket descends vertically inside the sliding rail of the glass, Inside the door panel... And they go all the way to guide and protect the glass... There are no folds...
Maybe I couldn't explain it well..... 😅
Maybe I couldn't explain it well..... 😅
So the whole rubber gasket on the rail ( 2 ) that goes all the way down inside the door .......................
Gasket and rail ( 2 ) have to be assembled outside the door interior , then slide into the door interior ....................
But the glass insertion ( been away from the door for storage ) has to have the seal compress as the edges of the glass can slide into installed position
Have you retraced your steps backwards as to if able to reverse steps and succeed knowing there are angles and changing gaps involved
Have the glass , seal , and vertical rails put together outside the door and then slid assembled into the door interior leaving the top seal arch loose and floppy to be put in door upper frame as the last step ?
Your final step may be to clock the window motor by keeping the window button up for a moment once arrived so the controller knows the up stop

Gaskets fitted... 😅we loosened the glass arm and motor to try to get the gasket through... Unfortunately, the difficulty was due to the fact that we had to work with the battery detached because there were several other electrical components detached and we didn't want to risk damaging the control units...
The restoration work continues... 🤞🏻🤞🏻
