Default windscreen issue

Hello all,

I have a windscreen external issue.
Wash it and looks brand new, once the whipper passes, leaves white "scratches" in certain arcs (like a rainbow)

Any suggestions ?

As they are in arcs, it is obviously going to be related to the wipers.

Are these genuine fine scratches (usually caused by previously worn wiper blades) or is it a film on the surface of the glass? If it is fine scratches, these can be reduced and sometimes even removed by polishing with Jeweller's Rouge - an extremely fine cutting paste. A surface film could be due to the product you are using to wash the vehicle or contamination on the wiper blades.

Jaguar used to recommend the use of their Screen Cleaning Paste at every service. This was on the service items list when your XJ Sport was new but it has disappeared from later versions of the schedules.

Thorough cleaning of the windscreen after washing using a vehicle glass cleaner and fitting new wiper blades would be my first approach.

Graham

Hello Graham,

Thanks for the feedback,
i'll go for the Jeweller's Rouge, the rest (wipers-cleaning products) gave no success.

My windshield as a complete mess when I got the car. It was stone chipped and streaking like the OP noted. Luckily, I cracked it one day changing a wiper blade, and much to my surprise, a replcement was only $200USD - installed in my own garage by a mobile glassier. He was careful not to ruin my rubber trim, and did a fine job.

I had a new wiper blade at the ready, and even got the tinted top portion that my original didn't have. I was a very happy cat.
