Default X300 3.2 interior heater not warm

Hi All

The heater in my 1996 X300 has decided to call it a day now that the weather is getting cooler. I may have been like it all summer of course.

Anyway, it seems that the small pump (Pt no MNA6710AB) up near the bulkhead is defunct. The hose leading to it is hot and there is battery voltage at the black two pin plug, but it's not running.

I took it off and the pump impeller is free. I connected the motor part directly to a battery very briefly and it stated to smoke. maybe I got the polarity wrong, but I thought it would just go backwards if that was the case.

I just wanted confirmation that I am right here before I go and buy another pump?

Glen

As a least expensive try before you were to purchase a motor there are brushes on the motor that can be replaced ( part # A33 ) from a company in California ( 3.50 dollars X 2 )

You will need new O-ring for the impeller as they swell that is a common rubber type found at the hardware store . I have an extra one somewhere and will get you the size . Found it I think , will have to measure

Make sure you sand the Commutator in a U= shape pattern so the surface is even around .

Excellent post and pics on the matter in the link below :

Most likely the brushes have worn out. They are soft graphite, so if you can find brushes that are similar at an electrical supply you can adapt ones that are a bit bigger just by sanding them down.

Hi All. I have bought a second hand pump to keep me going (Bottom pic) but the brushes in it are not long for this world so I want to refurbish the old one. I have found some brushes, but the Diode in the old one is also dead (top pic). Does anyone know where to get one from?

Electronic parts I usually get from Digikey.com. The problem might be too much selection! Fast shipping though.

Just saw you're in the UK. Maybe Maplins then? I know there is another electronic components supplier that I can't think of the name right now.

Thanks for the rapid reply. I wrote my request poorly, it was the specification of the Diode I was looking for (if indeed it is a Diode)

Cheers
