Default X300 Brake Clicking noise, please helpme.

Hello everyone, I just had a brand new brake switch installed because my old one was going bad. Now with the old brake switch I didnt have a clicking sound from behind the dash until the brake switch was starting to go bad, and I knew it was starting to go bad because when I pressed on my brake, it would take about 5 sec or so for the light to come on on the back rear window light. So now that I have installed a brand new brake switch everything works fine, I just get that clicking noise from behind the dash everytime I press the brake and let go of it. I havent had this noise a couple years ago, is it something that maybe needs to be adjusted? Because as I do look at the brake switch it was 2 metal like clips in it and it looks as when you press the brake it hits that metal to maybe make that loud clicking noise?? Anyway to silent it? Anyone have this problem or know how to resolve it? Any ideas would help me a lot! Thank You!

If the noise is coming from behind the dash I'm not sure it could be.

Are you sure the clicking isn't coming from the console area? If it is, you might be hearing the shift interlock solenoid. Of course it should only operate with the gearshift in "Park", but the "not in park" switch might be faulty....and fooling the system.

Sorry I can't offer anything more concrete

Cheers

Is this clicking noise there everytime you push the brake pedal, even if the ignition is in the locked position? If so, then its just a noisy switch or somthing around the switch rubbing. I can;t hear my switch, but I can't hear much of anything any more.

hello, The noise is def from the brake switch, its not from the center console area. I am pretty sure its the actual brake switch because when I saw the brake switch before it was installed it had like 2 metal pins on it where the flap hits it everytime you hit the brake, I am pretty sure thats what is cauing the loud annoying noise, maybe I should go under ther dash and press the brake while looking at the brake switch to see if thats the problem, and maybe I can take a soft price of cloth or something and stick it on top of it to quiet it down??

I suspect, then, an installation problem. The actual electrical portion of the switch assembly is so tiny that you'd never hear it operate from the driver's seat.

Yeah, remove the under-dash panel (just a few screws) and have a look-see. I'm betting the problem will be readily apparent in the form of something out-of-kilter with the mounting of the switch assembly. Its a simple design but the installation is sorta tricky so I can envision a problem.

Good luck
DD
