Default X300 Connector Position

While working on my wiper motor repair I disconnected the 3 connectors that reside just on front of the wiper housing. 2 are identical and I failed to mark them for re-installation (Duh!). I believe one may be for the Fuel Injectors and the other for the Ignition Coils.

Could someone look at the wiring colors and let me know which connector fits closet to the engine?

I should have checked before asking. Figure 04.1 of the 1997 Electrical Guide shows that those two 4 way Econoseal connectors are Oxygen Sensor connectors. There are no connectors on the Fuel Injector and Ignition Coil Circuits.

The 2 rear O2 sensor connectors can be mixed as you reconnect. , this would affect your engine regulating correctly

The car side of the connector there are 3 wires of the same color but the 4th wire is different and this determines correct hookup.

The pigtail side of the O2 sensors all 4 wires are the same color

so you will see your blue or red wire

The cylinder numbering is different than your X40 as the X300 is fwd most cylinder is # 1

Thumbs up!

If reversed on reconnection, trouble could result. 50/50 chance, and you came out ok this time. This feature is known as Oxygen Sensor Orientation. The ECU must keep them organized for good running. The factory should have/could have marked the connectors but didn't.

Parker: Thanks for posting the images with color notation particularly at the sensor locations.

SleekJag12: Yes - After realizing they were O2 Sensor connectors I went ahead and plugged them in where they lay. But I had my O2 monitoring laptop app hooked up and immediately could see they were incorrectly positioned from the lack of voltage patterns (flat lining) plus poor idle. I immediately re-positioned them and the voltage patterns returned to normal on all 4 sensors. A good test drive and all is functioning well.

Now I need to get back on the door lock issue. No immediate hurry as the key functions fine. I need to read all I can on this issue.

Perhaps the blue taped "wrapper" is a giveaway?
